Meet the Author

Before I became an author, I studied Art in college, but ended up with a B.A. in Psychology, M.A. in Professional Counseling, and Ph.D. in Psychology. While I devote much of my time to counseling, I still revel in my passion of being creative and found that words can be just as colorful as any painting!

When I am not writing or counseling, you can find me riding the trails on my electric bike, daydreaming about anything that inspires me, or imagining the possibilities in life.

Enough about me! What about you? What inspires you? What do you dream about?
There is magic in your answers and in you… I hope you can find it….
My name is Heddy Clark and I am the author of The Magic of Kindness and, coming soon, Rotten Patch Jack.

I was born in Chicago and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where I spent lots of time daydreaming and being creative. It was a time when social media did not exist so playing in the woods, camping, biking, and playing with friends outside consumed me.

I love stories about ghosts and scary places and stories that take place in nature. Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak, was a favorite in elementary school and Brave Irene, by William Steig, inspired Rotten Patch Jack. The whimsical nature of animals has always intrigued me. I once owned alpacas and never crossed a bulldog I didn't fall in love with immediately. This is Katie Cat Clark, my own cat witch, and inspiration for The Magic of Kindness.
